LMI Holdings seeks to develop, own, operate, and maintain the largest utility-scale solar power generation facilities in the West Africa sub-region, with the vision of installing up to 1,000 MW of solar energy by the year 2030 using the rooftop of its largest warehouse facility. The Mega Warehouse Roof Top Solar Project covering a total roof space of 92,000 square meters located within the TFZE and financed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) will see an installed Rooftop Solar PV Capacity of 16.8 MWp, the largest rooftop solar project in Ghana and arguably in the whole of Africa. The project seeks to provide a cleaner and comparatively cheaper source of power, a very important segment of Ghana’s industrialization effort (i.e., the export-oriented companies within the Free Zone Enclave, whose businesses generated a total export revenue of US$ 1.09 Billion in the first half of 2021 alone, while creating a total of 30,189 jobs mainly in the manufacturing sector).

To ensure that LMI Holdings can operate and grow its industrial park (2,000 acres) and offer a reliable and sustainable water supply to future tenants within the Dawa Industrial Zone, it is developing the Dawa Water Supply Plant. To achieve this, LMI plans to construct a Water Treatment Plant (WTP) with an initial capacity of 4,000m3 / day located on the outskirts of the Dawa Industrial Zone. Raw water will be abstracted from the Volta River and conveyed to a water treatment plan through a 17.8 km transmission main. Following treatment, water will be stored before onward distribution to clients in the DIZ and surrounding areas.
