Enclave Power Company Limited (EPC), Ghana’s premier privately-owned power distribution company serving the Dawa Industrial Park and the Tema Free Zones Enclave, proudly announces its support for the commencement of operations by Solar for Industries Ltd (SFI) Solar Park — a landmark renewable energy initiative poised to significantly enhance power reliability, affordability, and sustainability for industries within EPC’s operational zones. This strategic development marks a significant milestone in Ghana’s journey toward a cleaner, renewable, more resilient energy future.

The sod-cutting ceremony marks a pivotal milestone for EPC and the 100+ businesses it serves. Strategically located within the Dawa Industrial Park, the Solar Park represents a forward-thinking synergy between EPC’s mandate to deliver efficient, reliable industrial power and Ghana’s national push toward renewable energy growth.

A Game-Changing Renewable Energy Source for EPC’s Network

EPC will serve as the sole off-taker of electricity produced from SFI’s ground-mounted solar photovoltaic plant. The first phase of the project – a 200 MWp generation facility – will be integrated directly into EPC’s distribution network, enhancing the reliability and diversity of power for businesses operating in the Dawa Industrial Park and the Tema Free Zone.

The initial 100 MWp is expected to come online by December 2026, with the full 200 MWp capacity completed nine months later.

As Ghana pushes to increase renewable energy penetration from under 3% to at least 10% by 2030, EPC sees the SFI Solar Park as an essential contributor to national energy security and industrial competitiveness. Once fully expanded to 1,000 MWp by 2032, the Solar Park will become one of West Africa’s largest solar installations and a major backbone for industrial electrification.

Driving Industrial Growth Through Reliable, Green, and Affordable Power

EPC’s industrial clients – including manufacturers in steel, cement, textiles, agro-processing, and logistics – stand to gain significantly from stable renewable power directly delivered into their distribution network.

Key benefits include:

  • Tariff stability and cost competitiveness, amid rising national grid tariffs
  • Cleaner energy mixes for industries seeking strong ESG profiles and global supply-chain compliance
  • Improved power reliability for heavy industrial operations
  • Access to green power certificates and carbon benefits for export-oriented businesses

By integrating this large-scale solar input, EPC strengthens its long-term strategy to balance conventional sources with renewable energy, reduce environmental impact, and support the evolution of Ghana’s industrial economy.

A Strategic Project Within the Dawa Industrial Park

The siting of the Solar Park within the Dawa Industrial Park — a rapidly growing industrial hub — ensures that the power generated is used efficiently and directly by industries situated closest to the generation source. This minimizes transmission losses and supports the development of a greener, more competitive industrial ecosystem.

Though EPC operates within parent company LMI Holdings’ industrial ecosystem, the Solar Park itself is an independent private-sector initiative wholly owned by Quarm Investments and implemented by SFI. EPC’s role is to ensure seamless integration of the power into its network to meet the future needs of industrial clients.

Supporting Ghana’s Energy and Climate Commitments

The SFI Solar Park aligns with:

  • Ghana’s Renewable Energy Master Plan
  • The National Energy Transition Framework (2022–2070)
  • Commitments under the Paris Agreement and SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy)

When completed, the 1,000 MWp capacity is expected to supply approximately 11.5% of Ghana’s current energy demand, drastically cutting carbon emissions and assisting industries reduce their environmental footprints.
